Build a Bear

Build a Bear Workshop

Build A Bear Workshop had a vision on how to better engage kids who were growing up with iPads. They partnered with Infusion to help bring to reality an interactive store of the future experience. Leading a team of 4 UX designers, 4 visual designers, and 2 motion designers, we worked closely with our technology and development teams to create the final product. I also spent a number of weeks on-site with the client reviewing existing research, evaluating the store mockups, and finalizing requirements.

Be sure to ask me why Build-a-Bear was one of my favorite projects...

Build A Bear had a substantial amount of existing market research, and ethnographic research already completed, so the primary role that we played was to conceptualize opportunities, design, and develop them. Building your bear is the experience, creating a strong emotional connection between a child and her bear. It’s like making a best friend!

Our goals were to attract and engage mall shoppers, increase the emotional connection, and reduce the effort to complete data collection. All the while, we couldn't break the existing, tried-and-true, process.

A lot of emphasis has been placed on the technology, but we measure our success in something much simpler: smiles.
